About

«Where the world ceases to be the scene of our personal hopes and wishes, where we face it as free beings admiring, asking, observing, there we enter the realm of Art and Science. If what is seen and experienced is portrayed in the language of logic, we are engaged in Science. If it is communicated through forms whose connections are not accessible to the conscious mind but are recognized intuitively as meaningful, then we are engaged in Art. Common to both is love and devotion to that which transcends personal concerns and volition». (Albert Einstein)

We believe ourselves to be in the middle: our research on music, which has been our profession since we were very young, is aiming to make scientific results meet performative activities and experimentation, and let people learn from what we research. This is CasalEmilio.

mani2CasalEmilio is a long-dreamt-of project, an Italian-Norwegian center for music studies, placed in Ravenna, in the countryside of Romagna, Italy. We have restored an old farmhouse that allows us to realize our aspirations and ambitions: to transform our relationship into a permanent professional collaboration and a union of cultures, Norwegian and Italian.

CasalEmilio offers courses and workshops on the Italian language for singers and music students, masterclasses, coaching for singers, courses on music history and culture, music lessons, exhibitions, the possibility of recordings, research activity and intercultural exchange between Italy and the Nordic countries, and, to some extent, accomodation of guests. You can simply use the house and the library as a quiet place to study and relax.
